What would you do if you won the lottery? Would you scream, jump around, faint, cry or just stare at your lottery ticket in disbelief? All of the above are possible, but what do you do when you realize there is more to the winning the lottery than a deposit of 3 million pounds into your bank account? The first thing most people do after winning the lottery, screaming and crying aside, is ring their friends and family; well, wouldn't you like to tell everyone that you had just won the lottery? This is a potential downfall to winning the lottery. No-one would mind sharing their new found wealth with close friends and family, but what happens when people who you don't really like come asking for a little of your money? After a while, a little money could turn into a lot of money. Money has been quoted as being the root of all evil. While it is true that money, especially a lot of money, can cause resentment and hostility between friends and family members. Is it not how we handle that money that becomes the problem, not the money itself? Boundaries have to be set when dealing with such large sums of money. Never be afraid to say no to someone if they ask for a loan. Just because you have won a large amount of cash, doesn't mean you have to automatically dish it out with people you know. After the initial shock of winning has passed, buying things you have previously only ever dreamed about start running through your mind. If you do happen to win the lottery, and by the way you have a 1 in 14 million chanced of doing so, you will no doubt already know what you want to spend it on. Remember though that even with a huge sum of money such as a lottery win, the money can still run out. Large lavish purchases will only make the money run out faster, so be frugal with your purchases and don't buy anything on a whim. Are you going to quit your job? That may be your first instinct, but you have to consider your options. Whether or not you do quit will ultimately depend on how much you have actually won. Break down what you won in the lump sum into earnings for the year. It may not be as much as you think, especially when you take into account any purchases you make. Winning the lottery may not be guaranteed, but for some of us the dream becomes a reality. Why is it that we all wish of winning the lottery in the first place? Should we be careful what we wish for? Money isn't everything and even with millions in the bank, are you going to be any happier? The answer for many lottery winners is a resounding no. Many lottery winners have used their winnings for greater purposes and given a large sum to worthwhile charities. This in turn has made them happy, but is that because they were happy before they won the jackpot? A lot of lottery winners have wished they had never put that on a line of numbers. They feel like the lottery winnings brought them nothing but unhappiness and bad luck... Could this be because they were unhappy before they won?
